Smart Philippines has now WiMAX

Good news to everyone, Smart Communications Incorporated has taken its first steps to massively deploying WiMAX technology across the country.

WiMAX or Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless broadband access to a wide area spanning several kilometers.

According to Orlando Vea, Smart’s chief wireless advisor, “It has been our vision to provide Internet for all Filipinos — no matter where they are or what device they’re using,”

Venus shining above a Crescent moon

ABS-CBN News Augmented Reality

In line with the new technology used in the Automated 2010 Philippine National Election, ABS-CBN news, also amazed the audience on their coverage. This includes the well arranged studio set (looks like a war room to me), a huge touch screen and the virtual presence which is a feature of an advance technology called Augmented Reality (AR).

Creating Read More link in your posts.

For those who might not know yet, creating a “Read More” link or an “After the Jump” summaries is possible for us blogger user. I just found out this when my friend Jed told me the trick.

This feature allow us to create a expandable post summaries on our blog posts, so this prevents longer posts to appear in our home page. This can be done easily in the post editor without the need of complex HTML code changes. First you must be in the compose mode,
decide where in the post you want to create the Read More link, then once you have decided, place the cursor in that position and click the Insert Jump Break icon in the toolbar. You will notice that a gray bar is inserted at this point. This indicates where in the post the break will appear. You can also play with it by dragging that gray bar.

You can publish now your post, after publishing, notice that the “Read More” link is now placed where you set the jump break.

2010 Philippines Elections – Find Your Precinct

Do you want to find your precint or voting center location?

Here’s how:

1. Go to Google’s Precint Finder (Find Your Voting Center).
2. Enter your City or Municipality on the City/Municipality input box.
    Note: While typing, notice the autcomplete text. This determines that the value you are entering is valid.
    ex. Tondo, Pasay, Las Piñas, etc.
3. Enter Precint Number in the Precint Number input box.
    Precint Number can be found on your Voter’s ID.
    ex. 1234B in Tondo Manila
4. Click the Find Voting Center button.

This tool is very nice. It gives you the exact location of your precint on the map.

However this tool only give you the location of your precint, If you want to know your complete voter’s information, go to COMELEC PRECINT FINDER instead.
